Read Matthew 27

Head

Matthew 27 is hard to read. It makes me very sad to think about how cruelly Jesus was treated. People didn’t believe that He was God’s Son, and they did many terrible things to Him. It was obviously a very hard day for Jesus, but as I read everything He went through, I am reminded that He did it all for you and for me because He loves us THAT much! Wow! What a love that is! Jesus could have stopped it all, but He didn’t. He stayed on the cross so that our sins could be forgiven. This shows us just how much God loves the whole world. Jesus gave His life so that we could live forever with Him in Heaven.

Heart

Even though this story makes me feel very sad, it also makes me feel very thankful. There is no pain we could ever go through that Jesus hasn’t already felt. He knows how we feel when we are hurt, lonely, or scared. How does it make you feel knowing that Jesus loves you this much?

Hands

Jesus showed us how much he truly loves us by giving up His life for us. He did this so that we could all be with Him in Heaven one day. He has given us this gift, but it is up to each of us to accept His free gift of salvation. He wants each of us to choose Him. If you haven’t already made a decision to follow Jesus with your life and make him your Lord and Savior, you can do that today! Ask an adult or even your KXP leader to help you talk through what it looks like to follow Jesus with your whole heart. It is the best decision you will ever make, and it changes everything about your future!

Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank you so much for everything you endured for us on the cross. It’s very hard for us to read all the bad things people said about you and the terrible way you were treated. But you did it all for us and we are so thankful that you chose us! Help us to live our lives in a way that pleases you in all we say and do. In your Holy name we pray, Amen.
